Our School

Living our Vision

Our vision is the guiding factor for all the learning experiences . Below is our living, breathing and evolving vision, which is expressed and experienced throughout the work we do every day in the school. We have different ways of thinking, a fact we embrace. We take our responsibility seriously and try our best to instill character with education.

“Leaving traces in the community, by nurturing young minds to be respectful, caring citizens, and future leaders.”

How we Live our Vision and Nurture young minds

Classroom Intention aligned with our Vision
Our vision is reflected through the individual classroom intentions and long-term project study that our educators co-research and facilitate with the students to instill the vision through the experiences.

Social Responsibility – Each classroom sponsors a child’s education
Social Responsibility, which is an important part of our Core Values is threaded in the classroom intentions and project studies. We also model social responsibility by each classroom sponsoring a child’s education through a non-profit organization. The students have opportunity to learn the importance of helping others in need of education and its importance.

Collaboration with Community
We learn as a responsible community member, by engaging with experts from the field of their study as Guest Speakers for the Projects, Field visits in the community to enhance and apply real life knowledge to our learning. We foster an inter-generational relationship with our neighbors next door at Harbor Chase, and network with area businesses to enrich the curriculum already being offered to the students.

Core Values Embedding Life Choices Program
We consciously educate children by modeling making decisions guided by our core values. Our values shape the way we work with our families, our communities, and each other.

Leadership Exposure
The project study includes learning about the leaders in the specific topic of research, which would help students understand that all initiatives are pioneered and led by a or group of leaders for that to come to fruition and benefit the community as a whole. The educators also discuss the initiative that we can take as individuals to make an impact in the community.

Community Service
The social responsibility that the students learn in the classroom is implemented through Community service that they can apply to their real life experience and gain knowledge.

A Letter from our Leadership Team

Dear Families,

We would like to extend a warm welcome to the KLA Schools of Plainfield.

We invite you to explore our website and encounter what makes us unique. It is through a passionate leadership team and a dedicated team of educators, we have established an environment where students are respected, nurtured, valued, and given the opportunity to wonder and discover. We are committed to our vision – leaving traces in the community by nurturing young minds to be respectful, caring, citizens and future leaders.

We want you to visit our school to learn the purpose and intention through which we provide a quality education and feel wonderful to have your child to be part of the experience and our school family. Our students are encouraged to explore, hypothesize, experiment, and collaborate with peers to learn about the world around them and their significance within. Students learn to construct, reflect, and reconstruct their ideas and understanding, thus enabling the creation of critical thinkers.

Our Reggio-inspired classrooms provoke curiosity and the educators instill a passion for a life-long love of learning. Core values, environmental education, and technology are also embedded into our programming which truly sets us apart in the community.

We also make a strong investment in professional development, as we feel it is important to learn continuously and grow our skills and educational competencies. We have partnered with professors affiliated with Harvard University in ‘Making Thinking Visible’ initiative, to foster critical thinking in our students.

We strive to create a rich context of experiences for our children in our school which are developmentally appropriate and which exceed the Illinois Early Learning Standards. The environment at the school is also viewed as a source of inspiration and a teacher in and of itself. The children have ample opportunities to express their creativity and individuality. The outdoor space is nature inspired and includes an organic garden. There is also an art studio with a wide array of materials such as natural, manmade, recycled materials and more.

Please contact us if you have any questions or to schedule a visit. We look forward to meeting you and offer your child a remarkable early childhood education experience.

Kindest Regards,
KLA Schools of Plainfield Leadership Team

Our Educators

KLA Schools are staffed with caring, fun, and dedicated professionals. Participating regularly in professional development experiences, our teachers are constantly looking for ways to learn more about the best ways to teach our students. Observations of each child are taken throughout the day in addition to notes reflecting on weekly projections. Our educators are continually analyzing which ways children learn best as well as which teaching styles are most effective.

Facilitators in their interactions with children, our educators work to align children interests with the learning domains in loving, nurturing, and positive ways which support students in feeling safe, loved, and valued. Our curriculum addresses the whole child including academic, physical, social and emotional domains.

We encourage them to think deeper and ask questions as they research different theories. It is of utmost importance that teachers and children alike invest in researching and collaborating together in order to be a part of each other’s learning process.

Parents as Our Partners

Parents are a crucial factor in our program. In fact, parents are our partners. Our teachers understand and respect that parents are their children’s first teacher. Their involvement in the school gives their children a sense of security and is deeply appreciated. We recognize that stable, quality relationships during the early years are fundamental for later developmental outcomes. Collaboration between teachers, parents and the children is an integral part of the educational experience at KLA Schools. Our goal is not simply to build a strong, warm and nurturing connection with each child, but to extend that connection to our community of parents. By working in a collaborative group setting, children learn critical life skills such as compromise, reasoning, respect for others’ opinions and enhancement of their sense of community. Through these partnerships, children benefit from experiencing many of the same principles at home that they do in school and thrive with this consistency. Teachers also offer frequent support our families and our communities through transparency and by being a source of information about educating a whole child and the various aspects of development.

Safety and Security

KLA Schools are safe and secure by design. We work diligently to maintain the cleanliness of our facility as well as the safety of our furnishings and overall health of our children and their environment.

Parents log their children in at the reception area, where no outsiders are allowed. All doors leading outside of the KLA Schools grounds are kept locked and only able to be opened through sophisticated technology. Our schools include an outdoor play area designed with age appropriate materials, protective fences, and well-maintained grounds to insure the children’s safety.

The entire school is continually monitored utilizing closed caption cameras in all classrooms as well as hallways and outdoor spaces.

Staff members qualified to respond to life-threatening emergencies are always in attendance. Trained in pediatric first aid and CPR, staff members are always available to respond to a variety of emergency medical situations. In addition to our regularly instituted health and safety plan, emergency care producers are also put in place for both minor and major incidents.

Whatever the situation, our staff is confident and qualified to keep your most prized possession safe at all times.
